Biography
Kalika has been involved in music since she was young. When she was 15, she got involved in music technology, and from there, went on to the BRIT School doing music technology, and then to BIMM doing a degree in music production. It is the most significant influence on her life; this passion can be heard through her songs.
As a woman of colour in music production, she has always pushed to put her style and sound out there, being involved in every stage of the songs she releases, from songwriting to mixing. She has collaborated with other musicians, songwriters and producers, such as Blueboy & Dash, Mike Kintish and Strandz.
November 2020 saw her first release, a single written, performed and produced by herself when she was 17 – ‘Addicted to You’ helped shape the RnB style that can be heard through many of her more recent songs. Her most recent release was in April 2024, a song called ‘Dancing Till the Sunrise’ performed and written herself, and produced by Blueboy and Dash. Multiple of her releases have been played on BBC Introducing, and Dancing Till the Sunrise was played on Radio 1.
Kalika began live gigs in 2021 once Covid restrictions were eased, playing at venues across London, such as the Amersham Arms in New Cross and Colours in Hoxton. In December 2022, she began performing in Manchester, with her Debut performance at Band on the Wall. With an impressive portfolio of unreleased tracks, every gig has seen a bigger crowd than the last. As of 2024, she regularly performs with events companies, has been heard on BBC Introducing, BBC Radio 6 and BBC Radio 1, and intends to have at least 3 big releases in 2025.
